Intermittent fasting coach

An intermittent fasting coach app for the hour you want to quit.

Every fasting app counts hours. Steady is an intermittent fasting coach: it works out when you tend to fold, shows up just before, and is honest about what fasting does and does not do.

What a coach does that a timer can't

A timer tells you how long you have gone. That is useful right up until the moment you want to eat, at which point it is a number on a screen and you are a person in a kitchen. A coach pays attention to when you struggle, not just how long you have gone, and does something about it before the decision is made.

Steady is built around one observation from people who have tried fasting and stopped: they did not fail at fasting. They failed at one hour, the one where tired, hungry and low arrive together, and it is the same hour every time for a given person. An intermittent fasting coach that knows your hour is worth more than one that knows the science.

How Steady coaches

  1. It builds the plan from your days, not a template. Setup asks when your day usually falls apart, what wanting to quit feels like for you, where past fasts broke, and whether low mood makes it harder to start or harder to finish. The plan and the coaching strategy come from those answers.
  2. It predicts your hard hour. From your answers at first, and from your own check-ins as they accumulate. Your plan tells you the hour and the clock time to expect it.
  3. It checks in just before it. Not after the peak. A short message at the point where the stack usually lands, in the words you used to describe it.
  4. It offers a delay, not a lecture. "Black coffee, twelve minutes." A timed ride-out you can accept or decline, and a record of whether it worked.
  5. It knows your record. "You have held past this hour in six of your last eight fasts." Your own evidence, quoted back at the moment you need it.
  6. It tells you to eat when you should. A fixed set of safety rules runs on your phone before anything is sent. Describe shakiness, dizziness, confusion or a racing heart, and the coaching stops and the answer becomes: end the fast.
What the coach will not doIt will not interpret symptoms, explain your medication, name a condition or tell you what is happening inside your body, because it cannot know. It talks about hours, patterns and what you told it. Steady is not medical advice.

Who it is for

Who it is not for

Privacy, in one paragraph

There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no advertising in the app. Your plan, fasts, check-ins and conversations live in a local database on your iPhone. When you talk to the coach, the context for that one reply goes to a server that stores nothing and logs no message content. Your medication answer never leaves the phone; the server only ever receives a yes-or-no risk flag. Delete the app and everything is gone. Full privacy policy.

Questions people ask

What does an intermittent fasting coach do?

A coach does what a timer cannot: it pays attention to when you struggle, not just how long you have gone. Steady builds a plan from how your days actually go, predicts the hour you are most likely to quit, checks in just before it, offers a short timed delay rather than a lecture, and reminds you of your own record. It also tells you to stop and eat when what you describe sounds unsafe.

Is Steady's coach a real person or AI?

AI. The coach is a language model working from what you told the app during setup, your check-ins, and the current fast. It is instructed never to interpret symptoms, explain medication or describe what is happening inside your body. It talks about hours, patterns and your own words. It is not medical advice.

Do I need a human intermittent fasting coach?

If you have a medical condition, take medication that depends on meals, or have a history of disordered eating, you need a doctor or dietitian, not an app. For the ordinary problem of quitting at the same hour every time, a coach that knows your pattern and shows up at that hour is usually what was missing.

Does Steady work with 16:8?

Yes. Steady supports windows from 12 to 20 hours, and its coach suggests starting one step above what you already do overnight. 16:8 is the most common choice; 14:10 is often the better first week.

Is Steady free?

Steady is a paid subscription with pricing announced at launch. There is no account and no ads. Everything you enter stays on your phone.

Does the coach store my conversations?

No. The server that generates each reply has no database and does not log message content. Your conversation, check-ins and history live only on your phone. Your answer to the medication question never leaves the device at all.

Get through the hard hours.

Steady is an intermittent fasting coach app for iPhone. It works out which hour tends to beat you, checks in just before it, and tells you to eat when you should. Your data never leaves your phone.
